U.S. West Nile virus caused two deaths in California

California, the health sector on the 28th reported that West Nile virus this year in southern California and spread of the trend intensified, so far has resulted in two deaths.

Reported that two elderly people infected with West Nile virus this month was rushed to hospital, but the rescue invalid has died, one of the deceased was 72-year-old woman, another deceased was 64-year-old male. The two deceased were from southern California's Orange County, which is the county since 2004 the first time in cases of West Nile virus to cause death.

Orange County, according to data provided by the health sector, as at August 28, the county this year, 32 people have been infected with West Nile virus. This makes California infected with West Nile virus this year, the number rose to nearly 100 people.

Health experts said the spread of West Nile virus is often the peak of the annual August and September, it may also have more people were infected, the health sector in California has issued this warning vaccination.

West Nile virus in birds is the main host. Mosquito bites carry the virus in birds and then bite animals, caused by West Nile virus will spread. People infected with West Nile virus after two days usually in 15 days, the disease symptoms include sudden high fever, headache and pain, such as limbs. There is no vaccine or treatment and vaccines to combat West Nile virus.

According to the U.S. epidemic prevention departments to statistics, last year the United States a total of 175,000 people infected with West Nile virus and disease, of which 1227 were to develop into meningitis, killing 117 people. California last year to a total of 380 cases of West Nile virus infections, of which 21 people were killed.
